When To Test Your Water Supply
Regardless of where you receive your homes water from, either
private well or public source, you should have your water tested if any
of the following situations occur:
Annual testing date.
- If your water supply system has encountered problems or has required repair.
Test for pH, heavy metals - If you are having staining problems.
Test for iron, copper, total dissolved solids, manganese. - There is a “rotten egg” smell and bad taste.
Test for hydrogen sulfide, pH, copper, zinc, lead, iron, chloride, total dissolved solids - Water appears to be cloudy.
Test for total dissolved solids, turbidity, phosphates and nitrates. - Plumbing system shows signs of corrosion.
Test for pH, lead, iron, lead, manganese, copper and zinc. - Hardness of water is unacceptable or has changed.
Test for hardness. - Family or guest show signs of long-term stomach illness.
Test for bacteria, nitrate and sulfates. - When buying a new home or preparing to sell your own.
